The "Famous Men and Women" series, introduced across Danish denominations from the mid-1990s onward, replaced the long-running Fishing Vessels design and marked a deliberate shift toward celebrating cultural figures rather than industrial or maritime themes. The 100 kroner was the first denomination released in the new series, and the multiple signature combinations across prefixes A0 through A7 reflect normal turnover on the Nationalbank's board rather than any reissue event.

The Nationalbank's in-house printing works — operational since 1818 before closing in 2016 — produced all notes in this series domestically, an arrangement that had been consistent for Danish currency through most of the twentieth century.
