The 1953 Czechoslovak currency reform was one of the most punitive monetary confiscations in postwar European history. Citizens were required to exchange old koruny at a rate of 50:1 for amounts above a minimal threshold, effectively wiping out private savings overnight. This note was issued specifically to replace the pre-reform currency under that decree.
