| Obverse description | The central device features the Coat of Arms of Papua New Guinea, displaying a Raggiana bird-of-paradise in flight above a traditional kundu drum and crossed spears. The arms are rendered in fine relief against a polished field. The legend around the upper periphery reads PAPUA NEW GUINEA, while the fineness inscription 900/1000 FINE GOLD, the Franklin Mint mark FM, and the date 1984 appear in the lower field. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

The denomination K100 is prominently inscribed in the upper field, surmounted by the curved legend 100 YEARS ANNIVERSARY along the upper periphery. The centennial span 1884–1984 appears in the lower exergue, and a beaded border encircles the entire design. |
