Additional information

Issued to commemorate the Egyptian-Israeli peace negotiations, this coin predates the actual Camp David Accords by a full year — the agreements weren't signed until September 1978. Haiti was among several small nations that produced commemorative coinage around the diplomatic momentum generated by Sadat's historic November 1977 address to the Israeli Knesset, the first visit by an Arab head of state to Israel.

The Franklin Mint handled production for much of Haiti's commemorative program during this period, supplying a steady stream of collector-market silver issues with little connection to domestic circulation.
