| Obverse description | Conjoined facing busts of Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin (left, in profile facing right, wearing glasses) and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (right, in profile facing left), their portraits rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. Between the busts at the base, the crossed national flags of Israel and Egypt are depicted in low relief, symbolising the historic peace initiative. Above the busts, a dove in flight carrying an olive branch serves as the central emblem of peace. The legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAÏTI arcs around the upper periphery, while BEGIN appears at the left and SADAT at the right. The date range 19 NOV. - 25 DEC. 1977 is inscribed along the lower periphery, recording the period of the peace talks. |
