This note was issued by the Albanian State Bank in 1945, a period of radical political transition — the communist Provisional Government under Enver Hoxha had taken power in late 1944, and the new administration needed an immediate circulating currency before any purpose-designed notes could be produced. The Bundesdruckerei plates were a wartime inheritance; Germany had printed Albanian currency during the occupation, and the same Berlin facility simply continued filling orders under new political arrangements.

The Reichsdruckerei had been renamed Bundesdruckerei by this point, though both names appear in references to this series depending on the source.
