| Obverse description | Printed in blue intaglio on white cotton paper, the obverse presents a central text panel with the issuer name BANQUE DE FRANCE and denomination CENT FRANCS in bold letterpress, flanked by two allegorical female figures in neoclassical style: Navigation at left, resting beside nautical instruments, and Agriculture at right, with a sheaf and sickle. Architectural column vignettes frame the composition at each side, with the legend INDUSTRIE COMMERCE arched across the top and a penal code warning text in small print at centre. The date and serial number appear below the central panel, with facsimile signatures of the Caissier Principal and Secrétaire Général. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in blue intaglio and centres on a large allegorical group after Paul Baudry's composition: a standing female figure personifying Wisdom restrains Fortune, who kneels at her feet, with the motto LA SAGESSE FIXE LA FORTUNE inscribed along the lower border. Two winged putti flank the central group on either side, each seated beside an anchor motif and denomination numeral 100. Ornate pillar vignettes with interlaced guilloche borders frame the design, and the issuer inscription BANQUE DE FRANCE is set in letterpress across the top. The designer and engraver credits BAUDRY DEL. and J. ROBERT SC. appear in the lower corners. |
