| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in blue intaglio and centres on a large allegorical group after Paul Baudry's composition: a standing female figure personifying Wisdom restrains Fortune, who kneels at her feet, with the motto LA SAGESSE FIXE LA FORTUNE inscribed along the lower border. Two winged putti flank the central group on either side, each seated beside an anchor motif and denomination numeral 100. Ornate pillar vignettes with interlaced guilloche borders frame the design, and the issuer inscription BANQUE DE FRANCE is set in letterpress across the top. The designer and engraver credits BAUDRY DEL. and J. ROBERT SC. appear in the lower corners. |
