Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap encircled by an oak wreath, with a laurel branch extending before the effigy. The legend arcs around the upper and lower periphery of the field. The design reflects the refined Art Deco style characteristic of Lavrillier's work, with finely modeled drapery and boldly rendered foliage. The inscription ESSAI and the engraver's name ANDRE LAVRILLIER appear as part of the peripheral legend.
