Additional information

The Democratic Republic of Congo has issued an extensive series of small-format gold coins through the mid-2010s and beyond, many targeting the collector market rather than circulation — this piece almost certainly never passed through Congolese commerce at any point. The Banque Centrale du Congo has worked with European minting houses, particularly Berne-based operators, to produce these issues at scale for the international numismatic trade.

The ankh itself originates in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, predating any Congolese cultural tradition by millennia — its appearance here reflects collector appeal over regional heritage.
