Niger has issued a long-running series of miniature gold pieces bearing world monument themes, largely marketed through European dealers to the collector trade rather than circulated domestically. These are frankly novelty items — legal tender by technicality, but produced with no expectation of circulation and no meaningful monetary function within Niger itself.
The .9999 fineness is the one genuinely notable specification: fractional gold at this purity is less common than .9167 or .900 issues of comparable size.
