| Obverse description | Frontal effigy of the Statue of Liberty occupying the central field, her radiating crown of seven rays prominently displayed, with stylized seagulls in flight flanking the upper field. To the right of the figure, the centennial dates 1886 and 1986 are inscribed in two lines, separated by a horizontal rule. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE appears in a rectangular panel along the lower portion of the coin, rendered in an elegant serif typeface. The overall composition commemorates the centenary of the gift of the Statue of Liberty from France to the United States. |
