| Reverse description | A fully armoured medieval knight on horseback gallops dynamically to the left, sword raised aloft, his surcoat and horse's trappings decorated with the Grimaldi lozenge device. The design fills the field with vigorous movement, executed in the bold linear Art Deco style of Turin. The motto DEO JUVANTE arcs across the upper field, split by the raised sword. The denomination 100 FRANCS is inscribed in large characters along the lower right arc, and the word ESSAI appears in small letters in the lower central field below the horse, identifying this as a trial piece. |
