Obverse description The obverse depicts a frontal view of the Panthéon, the neoclassical mausoleum in Paris, rendered in fine detail with its columned portico and dome prominently displayed. Arching above the architectural motif is the patriotic dedication AUX GRANDS HOMMES LA PATRIE RECONNAISSANTE, while the circular legend RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE frames the design along the periphery. The date of issue appears in the field below the building. The composition, designed by Jean-Claude Dieudonné, conveys a sense of civic grandeur consistent with the commemorative nature of the series.
