| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large six-pointed star (Seal of Solomon) rendered in bold relief, enclosing a circle containing a five-pointed star (pentagram) at its centre. The interstices of the star are filled with elaborate arabesque foliage in low relief. Arabic inscriptions in cursive script surround the central motif in four quadrants. The word ESSAI appears in Latin characters along the lower portion of the central star, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. |
