Reverse description Plain flat field bearing a typographic inscription arranged in four lines at center: CONCOURS. / PIÈCE DE / 100 F / 28 FEVRIER 1831. The text is engraved in a simple, unadorned manner consistent with a competition trial piece (essai de concours), with no decorative elements other than the milled border. The date refers to the official competition held on 28 February 1831 to select designs for the new coinage of the July Monarchy.
