| Obverse description | Laureate bust of King Louis-Philippe I facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair secured by a laurel wreath with a ribbon tie visible at the nape of the neck. The effigy is unclothed at the shoulder in the antique manner, consistent with the Neoclassical engraving style of Domard. The legend LOUIS PHILIPPE I curves along the left periphery and ROI DES FRANCAIS along the right, both within a beaded border. The engraver's signature DOMARD F. appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust. |

| Obverse lettering | LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANCAIS DOMARD F |
| Reverse description | The denomination 100 FRANCS is inscribed in two lines at the centre of the field, with the word ESSAI (trial) below, all enclosed within a large wreath composed of two symmetrical laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A small five-pointed star appears in the lower exergue beneath the wreath. The overall composition is uncluttered, allowing the denomination and essai designation to dominate the field, framed by the finely rendered foliage of the wreath and surrounded by a beaded border. |
