| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of General Lafayette in military uniform with epaulettes and a cravat, rendered in high relief after the original model by Benjamin Duvivier. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style with fine detail in the hair, collar, and braiding of the uniform. The legend 'GÉNÉRAL LA FAYETTE' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' curves along the lower periphery, separated by raised dots on each side. The engraver's attribution 'D'AP.
