Obverse description Polychrome intaglio print with dominant red-brown, green, and black tones, with all legends in French. The upper left vignette shows Ceres driving a quadriga above a rich allegorical composition with a group of four female figures, mirrored on the upper right by Neptune with his trident leading a second quadriga over a comparable group of four women. The central field carries a reclining Belgian lion on a pedestal, below which the statutory warning text appears within an orange frame; the denomination, date, serial number, and signatures are printed in black, and the note marks the first issue of the Banque Nationale de Belgique to carry that institution's full title.
