The Glorioso Islands are an uninhabited French territory administered from Réunion, claimed also by Madagascar and Comoros — a dispute unresolved since decolonization. No indigenous population exists, and the islands host only a French military detachment and meteorological station. Coins issued under this territory's name are fiscal curiosities produced for the collector market, not for circulation among any resident population. France does not recognize them as official tender.
