| Obverse description | At centre, an intaglio bust portrait of the dramatist Pierre Corneille — rendered after a drawing by Lebrun — is set against an architectural stage design submitted in 1685 by Mansart and Vigazani for the theatre at the Palace of Versailles. Weapon trophies occupy the lower left and lower right corners of the composition. The legends BANQUE DE FRANCE and CENT FRANCS are inscribed across the face of the note. |
