Additional information

This piece belongs to a wave of privately-licensed "fantasy" issues produced in the early 2010s under Central African and West African CFA franc denominations — coins that technically satisfy legal tender formalities in their issuing nation but were never intended for, nor saw, any circulation. The Ivory Coast has no geographical or ecclesiastical connection to Papua New Guinea, and Pope Benedict XVI's 2008 visit to that country generated enough collector demand in the Catholic devotional market to justify exactly this kind of opportunistic issue.

KM#105 was distributed almost exclusively through third-party dealers in Europe.
