Reverse description A detailed frontal depiction of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with the monumental tomb's colonnaded structure, stepped pyramid roof, and quadriga summit faithfully represented. The legend 'MAUSOLÉE D'HALICARNASSE' arcs along the upper border, flanked by decorative asterisks. The inscription 'LES MERVEILLES DU MONDE ANTIQUE' curves along the lower periphery, also flanked by asterisks, identifying this issue as part of the Wonders of the Ancient World series. The date '2018' and fineness notation 'AU .999' appear in the right field beside the mausoleum. The overall composition is finely engraved with careful architectural detail on the polished gold surface.

Additional information

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus — built in the 350s BC for Maussollos, satrap of Caria — gave the English language the word "mausoleum" and survived largely intact into the medieval period, when the Knights of St. John dismantled it to fortify their castle at Bodrum. Ivory Coast has no historical connection to the site whatsoever; this is a bullion-adjacent collector piece issued under the CFA franc framework purely for the numismatic market, one of dozens of similar "Seven Wonders" issues circulating among modern minor-gold collectors.
