| Reverse description | A bust-length portrait of General Jan Henryk Dabrowski, depicted in military uniform, occupies the left portion of the central field within a finely engraved decorative circular border of floral and foliate motifs. To the right of the portrait, the first verse of the Polish national anthem (Mazurek Dabrowskiego) is inscribed in capital letters across multiple lines. A cursive facsimile signature, rendered in the style of Dabrowski, appears beneath the text. The ornate border ring encircling the central design lends the reverse a medallic character consistent with commemorative issue. |

This piece belongs to the sprawling "Hymns of the World" series produced by the Polish mint Mennica Polska on behalf of various West African CFA franc issuers — a licensing arrangement that has nothing to do with Senegalese monetary policy and everything to do with the European collectibles market. The first verse of the Mazurek Dąbrowskiego, adopted as Poland's anthem in 1927, dates its lyrics to 1797, when Józef Wybicki wrote them for the Polish Legions fighting under Napoleon in Italy.
