Niger has issued this piece under the Central African CFA franc framework, though the country's relationship with that monetary system became politically fraught following the July 2023 military coup, after which the junta announced intentions to break with ECOWAS financial structures entirely. That the coin was produced at all — and denominated in CFA francs — reflects either a contractual minting pipeline that outlasted the political rupture, or a quieter continuation of ties the new government publicly disavowed.
