| Obverse description | Central field features the coat of arms of the Republic of Benin, comprising a quartered shield displaying a castle with two towers and a six-pointed star in the upper quarters, and a palm tree and a sailing ship in the lower quarters, flanked by two rampant lions as supporters, and surmounted by a buffalo head.
