Mali has no historical or geographic connection to Chichén Itzá whatsoever. The Republic of Mali, like dozens of small-economy nations, periodically licenses its sovereign minting authority to private bullion and novelty coin producers — primarily European intermediaries — who select themes purely for collector-market appeal. The resulting pieces circulate nowhere and exist solely as packaged product.
At 0.5 grams of .999 gold, the metal value has historically hovered around $30 USD spot. KM# 437 is one of several dozen similarly structured Mali gold issues from the same production cycle.
