The BEAC issues coinage on behalf of six member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community — Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — all sharing the CFA franc pegged to the euro at a fixed rate of 655.957 francs, a parity established in 1999 when the euro replaced the French franc as the anchor currency.
