| Obverse description | Central shield-shaped coat of arms of Bassas da India, featuring a seahorse in the central field, supported on either side by a leaping dolphin. The chief of the shield bears three stars, and a coronet surmounts the crest above the legend. The curved banner inscription BASSAS DA INDIA arcs across the upper portion of the design, with the engraver's initials JJ incuse in the lower right field. The date 2012 is inscribed in the exergue below the arms, all within a beaded border. |
