Guinea's 100 franc note has occupied an awkward position in the national currency system for decades — the denomination's purchasing power had eroded so severely by the 2010s that it functioned less as a meaningful unit of exchange and more as a rounding artifact. The 2015 paper issue came after the Banque Centrale had already introduced polymer notes for higher denominations, a deliberate two-tier materials policy reflecting cost calculations against expected circulation lifespan at this value.

Pick 47A distinguishes this from the closely related 47 by signature variety — a detail that trips up collectors who treat the series as a single type.
