The word FRANCS appears in smaller lettering immediately below the numeral. The legend BANQUE CENTRALE curves along the upper periphery, separated from the central design by a twisted rope border. Flanking the central numeral on both sides are stylized chevron and geometric decorative elements of African inspiration.
