Obverse description Portrait of King Leopold I in military uniform at left, set within a guilloche border frame. The central vignette presents a wide panoramic view of the Place Royale in Brussels with the Justice Palace at centre-right, rendered in fine intaglio line work. The denomination CENT FRANCS appears in large letterpress type at top centre, with the issuer's title BANQUE NATIONALE DE BELGIQUE across the top, the date and serial numbers in the upper corners, and two manuscript facsimile signatures for the Trésorier and the Gouverneur below the central vignette.

Reverse description The reverse carries a large central vignette of mounted cavalry troops in motion, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. A blank panel at right is reserved for the watermark area.
