Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed panoramic view of the Rock of Cashel, the medieval Irish ecclesiastical complex set upon a limestone outcrop in County Tipperary. In the left foreground, a tall intricately carved Celtic high cross adorned with traditional knotwork and interlace ornament dominates the composition. Behind it, the ruined silhouette of Cormac's Chapel, the round tower, and the cathedral walls are rendered in high relief against a deeply recessed field. The inscription 'ROCK OF CASHEL' arcs along the upper legend, with 'IRLANDE' below it in the upper centre field, and the date '1997' appears in the lower exergue.
