Obverse description The obverse displays the coat of arms of the State of Bahrain centrally in the field, comprising a traditional shield device. Encircling the arms, the country's name appears in Arabic script at the top and in Latin script at the bottom, forming a continuous legend around the periphery. The Hijri date appears in the upper field in Arabic numerals and the corresponding Gregorian date appears in the lower field in Western numerals. The design reflects the official heraldic style adopted for Bahraini coinage of this period.
