| Additional information |
Bahrain has hosted a Formula One Grand Prix since 2004, making the 2014 race the tenth edition at the Sakhir circuit. The commemorative was issued by the Bahrain Currency Board to mark the occasion — the race itself having required the construction of an entirely artificial desert facility, one of the most expensive single motorsport infrastructure projects undertaken in the Gulf region at the time of its opening.
