| Obverse description | A richly detailed underground panoramic scene inspired by Jules Verne's novel 'Journey to the Center of the Earth.' The composition depicts a vast subterranean cavern with stalactites hanging from the upper register, beneath which the legend VOYAGE AU CENTRE DE LA TERRE arcs along the upper rim. Several explorers are shown traversing rocky terrain at left and lower left, while a prehistoric plesiosaur-like sea creature inhabits an underground lake in the central field. Giant mushrooms dominate the lower portion of the design, with additional diminutive figures exploring among them.
