| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed scene from Greek mythology depicting Hephaestus, the god of the forge, seated on a stool and shown in profile facing right, attending to the goddess Athena whose helmeted head he is working upon. Hephaestus is rendered as a bearded, muscular figure in classical style, while a large jar or vessel appears to the right of the composition.
