Additional information

The fourth coin in Austria's "Crown Jewels of the House of Habsburg" series, this issue commemorates the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire, crafted around 962 AD — almost certainly for the coronation of Otto I — and held continuously at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna since 1800, when Napoleon's advance prompted its transfer from Nuremberg to prevent seizure.

The .986 fineness is deliberate: it matches the historical gold standard associated with Habsburg imperial regalia coinage, a conscious technical choice rather than convention.
