| Reverse description | Central motif consists of a bold Jerusalem cross set within a quatrefoil frame, a design characteristic of the large Spanish gold escudo coinage of the early 17th century. The four quadrants of the cross each display a lion passant, rendered in relief with fine detail. Concentric beaded and linear borders surround the quatrefoil, separating the central device from the peripheral legend. The circumferential Latin legend reads the regnal date 1623 and the royal title HISPANIARVM REX, identifying Philip IV as King of the Spains. The overall design is consistent with the reverse type of the historic 100 Escudos Centén struck at Segovia. |
