Bradbury Wilkinson printed this series for Banco de Portugal across an eight-year window, a run long enough that the "2nd print" designation signals a deliberate re-order — the original plates were reused, but something in the specification changed, whether ink, paper stock, or a minor typographic correction no longer traceable in the printing records. BW was the dominant London security printer of the period and handled Portuguese colonial and metropolitan issues simultaneously, which occasionally created scheduling delays and subtle batch inconsistencies.

The watermark remains the sole mechanical security feature — no serial number varieties or overprints are known to distinguish this print from the first.
