Obverse description Conjoined facing busts of Queen Joanna I and her son King Charles I (Holy Roman Emperor Charles V), both crowned, set within a raised inner circle against a plain field. Joanna is depicted to the left wearing a jewelled crown and veil, while Charles appears to the right in an elaborate crown and armoured dress with fur trim. The date 1528 appears above the busts, with the mint marks C and A flanking the effigies in the inner field. The surrounding Latin legend, separated from the central design by a beaded border, reads IOANA ET KAROLVS REGES ARAGONVM TRVNFATORES ET KATOLICIS.
