Obverse description Mature draped bust of King George I facing right, modeled in high relief with finely detailed portraiture. The engraver's signature BARRE appears in tiny incuse letters below the truncation. The encircling legend reads ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ (George I, King of the Greeks), with the date 1875 incorporated into the inscription. The design reflects the refined academic style characteristic of Désiré-Albert Barre's work at the Paris Mint.
