Reverse description The reverse bears a detailed high-relief adaptation of Diego Velázquez's celebrated painting 'The Rokeby Venus' (La Venus del espejo, c. 1647–51). A reclining nude female figure is depicted lying on drapery, viewed from behind, her head turned toward a mirror held by a winged putto (Cupid) at the left who gazes at the viewer. The mirror reflects the face of Venus in a soft, idealized manner. The artist's name 'VELÁZQUEZ' is inscribed in the lower portion of the field in raised capital letters.
