This note is part of the ongoing "Obsolete Currency" reproduction series commissioned for the Georgia state collector market — not a Federal Reserve instrument and carrying no legal tender status. The original State of Georgia $100 notes it references date to the antebellum and Civil War periods, when individual states and private banks issued their own currency under a patchwork system that the National Banking Acts of 1863 and 1864 effectively ended.
The hologram is a modern authentication feature added to distinguish licensed reproductions from counterfeits of the reproductions themselves — a problem that emerged as the collector novelty market expanded after 2010.
