Obverse description Central vignette in bold intaglio relief presents Sir Henry Mainwaring aboard his vessel the Resistance, rendered as two full-rigged sailing ships under billowing canvas and flying the British ensign, set against an open sea. Floral and foliate border columns flank the design on both sides, with denomination numerals '100' in shield cartouches at each corner. The issuer legend runs along the top in raised lettering, with 'ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS' across the lower border, and the '23k' gold foil notation appears to the left of the central vignette.
