Jamaica's 2022 polymer $100 marks the country's 60th independence anniversary — the "Independence" subtitle is not decorative, it was the explicit justification for the reissue. Thomas De La Rue's SAFEGUARD™ substrate had already been adopted for lower denominations years earlier, so this wasn't Jamaica's introduction to polymer; it was an extension of a program already underway.
Listing a watermark as a security feature on a polymer note is technically a misnomer — what appears on SAFEGUARD™ is an optically simulated equivalent, not a true paper watermark formed during pulp production.
