| Additional information |
Namibia gained independence from South African administration in 1990, making this 2000 issue a decade-anniversary commemorative struck under the Bank of Namibia's own authority — itself only established in 1990 alongside the new state. The platinum composition places it firmly in the bullion/proof commemorative category rather than anything intended for circulation. Very few platinum commemoratives were struck by sub-Saharan African issuers during this period, and Namibia's series remains notably underappreciated in specialist literature despite the country's own platinum-group metal deposits in the northeast.
