| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by artist Aries Cheung, presents a richly detailed composition celebrating the Lunar Year of the Rabbit. A rabbit rendered in a composed, dignified stance occupies the central field, its ears and shoulders adorned with flowing, wing-like motifs, while swirling windmill-like wave patterns symbolizing water — the dominant element of 2023 — fill the surrounding field in reference to the feng shui principles of wind and water. Flowering plants and cinnamon leaves appear to one side of the rabbit, while the Moon Palace, legendary residence of the moon goddess Chang'e, is depicted on the opposite side amid auspicious cloud patterns. The Chinese character for Rabbit is inscribed alongside the legends CANADA, the date 2023, and the denomination 100 DOLLARS. |
