Australia's emu bullion series occupies an unusual position among Perth Mint gold issues — unlike the Kangaroo series, which carries legal tender status and annual design rotation, the emu releases have been produced more selectively, making year-specific runs genuinely limited rather than nominally so. The 6th Portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint on Australian coinage following the Royal Mint's transition in 2015, and remained in use until the Queen's death in September 2022. Coins dated 2023 bearing her effigy were struck posthumously under a transitional arrangement before Charles III portraiture was introduced.
