Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, after the effigy designed by Susanna Blunt, occupying the central field against a deeply mirrored proof background. The Queen is depicted wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring, with her hair pinned up in a characteristic style. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and D·G·REGINA along the right periphery, both rendered in raised Latin characters. The engraver's initials SB appear discreetly at the truncation of the bust. The overall presentation is characteristic of the standard Royal Canadian Mint proof obverse used on commemorative gold issues of this period.
