Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing the George IV State Diadem, with the engraver's initials IRB incuse below the truncation. The portrait is set against a darkened field bearing concentric circular line engraving that radiates outward toward the rim, creating a distinctive guilloche-like effect. The legend TOKELAU and 100 DOLLARS arc along the upper periphery, divided by the portrait, while the date 20 21 flanks the effigy at centre left and right respectively. The inscription 1 OZ FINE GOLD arcs along the lower left and ELIZABETH II along the lower right, completing the circular legend.

Additional information

Tokelau — three atolls with no airport, a population under 1,500, and no independent monetary system — has nonetheless become a prolific issuer of collector coinage through a licensing arrangement that routes production through the New Zealand Mint. The territory itself has no practical use for a gold hundred-dollar piece; these are struck entirely for the numismatic export market, with Tokelau's name providing legal tender status under New Zealand's administration.

The Louvre declined to loan the actual painting for reference photography.
