| Reverse description | Central to the design is a three-dimensional inlaid jade stone carving of the Laughing Buddha (Budai), depicted seated and rotund in the traditional auspicious pose, rendered in translucent green jade against a radiating sunburst background. The lower field is engraved with a scatter of traditional Chinese cash coins, symbolising prosperity and good fortune. The legend LAUGHING BUDDHA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, with the Perth Mint's P mintmark visible to the left of the jade insert, and the designer's initials NM in the lower right field. The border is decorated with an ornate repeating pattern of wave and dot motifs. |
